Tour '03 Day 3
We
started our day with french toast and bacon and prayer led by
Craig Davis. As the sun started to rise, one team went outside
to start cutting down trees, hauling them to the burning pile
and making a bonfire. There were so many branches that it took
a ton of woman and man power, all day long, to create the large
fires that burned. The benefit of working so hard to build these
fires was to stand by the fire and heat up.
The
scenary is beautiful and the team work makes this trip even better.
The other teams worked on demolition, which included ripping down
walls and dodging loose debris. We learned the importance of wearing
face masks, as we climbed higher and worked in teams in the tower.
It
is great knowing that what we are doing will help the Hill family
and the overall vision of the Overtoun House.
One
of the coolest things about the day was to see volunteering youth
come to the house to help, we were very grateful. After all the
day's hard work, we had a wonderful taco dinner with fellow workers
and people of the community. After dinner, part of the team went
on a "home visit". The group was warmly welcomed by
the family and the other members as they sang, ministered, worshiped,
and enjoyed company and fellowship over wonderful chocolate cake
and ice cream. The rest of the team enjoyed a hilarious bonding
expierence over the card game "UNO". As the teams came
together, the group broke off and everyone(or most of everyone)
fell asleep quickly. -
