Come See For Yourself
Overtoun House has been described as the "jewel in the crown of West Dumbartonshire" and you can experience it for yourself. Overtoun House is easily accessible from Glasgow and is close to a host of other tourist attractions.  
 
Visitor Information Summary
Directions. Follow our simple directions to get to Overtoun house from Glasgow or Dumbarton.
Parking. There are a limited number of parking spaces available at the front of the house. There is an overflow car park on the approach road on the left-hand side.
The House. There is limited access to the house while it is being renovated, but there are plans to provide a coffee shop and bed and breakfast accomodation inside in the future.
Overtoun House Tea Room. Open on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm selling tea and baked goods. Initially this will be in the Angel Room until the Tea Room is restored.
Scenic Views. On a clear day you can see the Clyde and beyond from Dumbarton Rock, Greenock, Erskine Bridge, Bowling, Old Kilpatrick to Clydebank
Picnic Area. There are a number of picnic benches infront of the house. Please take your litter home with you.
Formal Gardens. Explore the Victorian gardens surrounding the House. Sadly they are no longer as splendid as they once were but even in their current state you can still catch a glimpse of their former glory.
Walks. Take a meander outside the gardens and you will discover the Spairdie Linn waterfall and lush woodlands. For the more adventourous ramblers there are the nearby Crags and the Kilpatrick Hills.
Wildlife. Overtoun House was briefly occupied by the RSPB which is an indication of the diversity of wildlife around the House if you look for it!

Local Attractions Overview
Kilpatrick Hills. Behind Overtoun House these hills are great for serious ramblers and Sunday strollers alike.
Dumbarton. Capital of the ancient kingdom of Strathclyde, Dumbarton has plenty of history from ancient to modern times.
Loch Lomond. The largest inland lake in Britain and an area of outstanding natural beautry it's shore is lined with interesting places to visit.
Helensburgh. Looking out over the Clyde Helensburgh is the favourite seaside town of Glaswegians.
Glasgow. Shops, resturants, musuems - Scotland's liveliest city has it all.

From Glasgow

Follow the A82 westbound past the Bowling roundabout, at the next bend take a right at the Milton inn across from the Ford garage and Tourist Information. Follow the road up the hill until you reach the gates of Overtoun House
